What are studs?

Studs, also known as wall studs or framing studs, are vertical load-bearing or non-load-bearing members that form the primary framework for interior and exterior walls in buildings. They are typically made of wood or steel and are installed at regular intervals along the length of the wall.

Studs provide structural support for the wall covering, such as drywall, plywood, or siding, and transfer the weight of the wall and its contents to the foundation or floor framing.
