Providing utility searches for the Coal Authority
We have been working with the Coal Authority for several years now, providing utility searches to support their remediation works.
The Coal Authority has always been keen on promoting a coal/mining search as part of any planning for design and excavations.
They report several instances where construction/development projects have encountered significant problems and delays due to mine shafts, mining subsidence etc.
On their advice and with their support we have decided to offer utility searches to determine whether your site may be affected by historical mine workings.
If it is, you will have the opportunity to purchase a Consultant’s report produced by the Coal Authority from £142.00 +VAT (inclusive of our admin fee of £12.60 +VAT).
The Consultant’s report provides details of past, present and future underground coal mining. It includes seam name, depths of seam, extraction thickness and the year(s) the seam was worked.
It also indicates any shallow and probable shallow workings, mine entries and any previous claims for coal mining subsidence damage
To take advantage of this, simply commit to a full utility search, select “Coal Search” when selecting your search options. If it is affected, we will confirm this and the cost in your quote/order confirmation email.
Please contact us to let us know if you want the report and we will add the cost to your order and include the report with the utility search pack.
More About Cornerstone Projects
Cornerstone Projects offer a comprehensive utility database with market-leading prices and fast response times. As nationwide underground utility search experts, they have completed over 38,000 searches for more than 1,500 registered businesses, in accordance with PAS 128 survey level D.
It is a requirement by the Health and Safety Executive that all designers, architects, contractors, and all other relevant trades working on building projects, need to obtain underground utility plans before committing to any excavations. Knowing the whereabouts of buried plant, such as those owned by Scottish Water, will help to avoid potentially expensive damage to any existing underground plant.
This includes locating buried utilities such as electricity cables, gas pipes, sewers, water mains, and so on. Identifying these prior to any building works will minimise needing to pay for repairs to the plant, and will prevent additional delays and disruptions to the work. It will also ensure building contractors are compliant with HSE regulations and that workers are protected.
Cornerstone Projects provides customers with free and instant no-obligation quotes 24 hours a day, 7 days per week with the opportunity for online ordering making it even more hassle-free. They also offer a comprehensive search choice, fast response times and professional PDF search reports. Prices include free telephone support, in which experts are on hand to help customers with their underground utility searches.
